Report the problem so it stays on the record

Start with a clear symptom, a repair order, and a copy you keep.

What to do, in order

  1. Write what happened, when, mileage, warning messages, and the effect on normal use. Describe observations rather than diagnosing the cause.
  2. Give the authorized dealer a separate numbered list of every concern. Confirm that the repair order records the customer complaint, even if the technician cannot reproduce it.
  3. Keep the intake and completed orders, appointment confirmations, videos captured safely, and transportation receipts. Ask for warranty status and the estimated diagnostic plan.
  4. Check state notice and filing requirements now. Do not wait for repeated failures to learn your deadline.

What you can say

“Please record each concern exactly as reported and give me a copy of the repair order, including the dates and mileage.”

What to watch for

Do not say an issue is fixed before checking it. Do not exaggerate frequency or guess at fault.

Your next step

Build a repair timeline in My case and read the escalation sequence.

These steps are suggested consumer practices. Follow case-specific instructions, state requirements and your attorney’s advice when they apply.
