They ask about accidents, maintenance, or modifications

Be accurate and request the connection to the disputed repair.

What to do, in order

  1. Provide truthful dates, maintenance receipts and known modifications or accidents. If unsure, check records and distinguish what you know from what you were told.
  2. If coverage is denied, request the written basis and explanation of how the fact relates to the failed component.
  3. Keep inspection findings and expert reports. Seek advice if liability, injury, fire or a disputed causal conclusion is involved.

What you can say

“Here are the known facts and records. Please explain how they relate to this concern and the specific coverage provision you are applying.”

What to watch for

Do not conceal relevant history. Aftermarket parts or outside maintenance do not automatically void every warranty; causation and terms matter.

Your next step

Review the FTC warranty guidance and consult counsel on disputed causation.

These steps are suggested consumer practices. Follow case-specific instructions, state requirements and your attorney’s advice when they apply.
