They tell you to pick up a vehicle that is not fixed

Separate a pickup decision from agreeing that all concerns are resolved.

What to do, in order

  1. Ask for the completed order, work performed, remaining concerns, technician findings and any operating restrictions before pickup.
  2. If a safety concern remains, request written operating advice and a tow or transport plan. Seek prompt legal guidance if you dispute release or storage terms.
  3. If you collect the vehicle, document condition and unresolved concerns in a follow-up. Read every signature line; an acknowledgement of receipt may differ from a release of claims.
  4. Clarify loaner return and storage fees promptly. Do not leave the vehicle indefinitely without understanding written terms and your options.

What you can say

“Please confirm which concerns were repaired and which remain open. My collection of the vehicle should not be described as agreement that all reported defects are resolved.”

What to watch for

Do not make a blanket refusal to pick up without checking possible fees, obligations and safety arrangements. Do not sign a broad release without advice.

Your next step

Send the pickup follow-up template.

These steps are suggested consumer practices. Follow case-specific instructions, state requirements and your attorney’s advice when they apply.
