Repair delays
Waiting for a future software fix
A promise of an update is not proof of a completed repair.
What to do, in order
- Ask for the diagnosed condition, current software version, installed update identifiers and whether an actual repair is available.
- Ask for a documented release estimate, limits on operation, and a plan if the update is delayed. Label estimates as estimates in your records.
- After an update, record its date and whether the same symptoms recur. Preserve the prior repair history and continue checking deadlines.
What you can say
“Please distinguish the repair performed today from a future proposed software update. Which of my reported concerns remain unresolved?”
What to watch for
Do not infer a guaranteed release date from a verbal estimate. Do not bypass vehicle safety controls to avoid the symptom.
Your next step
Use the unresolved concerns template.
